To begin, the founders of Lilly's Project would like to affirm that all who consider donating first be sure that they and theirs are taken care of and secure - charity begins at home.  That being said. . .

The first purpose of Lilly's Project is to be sure that no pet suffers because the funds for emergency medical care are not available.  The second, but certainly no less important, purpose of Lilly's Project is to work towards keeping loving people and their pets together despite unexpected unfortunate economic circumstances.  Lillly's Project firmly believes that the bond between someone and the animal that they love and who loves them is not only special but important to the well-being of all.  To that end, any money donated to the designated animal shelter on behalf of Lilly's Project will be ear-marked in the following manner. . .

First, funds are to be used however and whenever possible to defray the cost of food and/or medical treatment (including and with emphasis on spay/neuter) in any situations where lack of such monetary assistance would result in the separation of owner from pet, pet from owner.  Special emphasis would be placed on helping our more senior citizens, who by nature of society are already on restricted or limited incomes.  But by no means is assistance limited to this.

Second, funds are to be used to help defray adoption costs so that anyone in need who truly desires to love and cherish a cat, a dog, or whatever else can enjoy with that pet the true happiness that being together brings.
